reflection of the day

We wanted to make an interactive space which included the woven technique so we were thinking about using the gigantic wooden object as the armature of the space. Yet we realised that it would be too literal as we only have to weave around the cuboid and that the form would be boring so we didn't go with that idea. We decided to build with the inspiration from nature so we collected leaves, tree twigs, bamboo stick instead of metallic water pipes, yet for the junction parts we have to use wire to stable them. I think it would be more relevant to nature-based theme if we use other organic materials instead of wire but since the wire is very thin, it is unlikely to be seen so that was not a bad idea neither. My group mates said they wanted to add movement to the construction to create a more lively atmosphere so I went to collect leaves and tied them up with strings and hanged it inside it to create the swinging movement. To further stress on the 'lively atmosphere', I collected green leaves instead which looks more energetic than the brown ones, as well as echoing the colour scheme of the old fabrics we found. We connected different fabrics we found and also weave decorations around the object in which each sides represent different seasons. Connecting the four sides also represents that the four seasons are equally important in nature.

I really liked the product although I think we could have woven more onto each sides as it looks a bit empty right now. But the best part in the product is that the black cover on top is a net which allow people to see through as well as the natural sunlight to pass into, which seems to bring the audience inside and nature together. And it will look better if it is placed outdoor in the woods as it can blend into the wild
